*SPOILERS AHEAD* So, i just want to talk about the novel in comparison to the manga. In the manga there is a bond between Ren and Wanshu. Of course its always based on the Stockholm syndrome that Wanshu has developed, but there are a lot of differences and we can see more of the characters backstories, which are quite similar and that, i think, is the reason that they do have a bond and that's why Ren sees a similarity with Wanshu even in the manga. Here, Ren is quite cold, sarcastic and in the end it is proved that she just plays with Wanshu and does not really care about her, not even in her sickening way. So, I would say that the novel is more realistic in terms of emotions and plot. Ren is an actual murderer that plays with people's fates, Wanshu still suffers from Stockholm syndrome, but after not a lot if thought she goes with the police and betrays Ren. Not to mention that Ren does not use the phrase 'I did everything for you' ,because she is actually doing it for her own sake, because her life is boring. The policeman, is also a human, she 'betrays', if you could say that, Wanshu's trust and seeks to take revenge for old man's death. In the manga, there is not even an old man. Anyways, the differences are many and i understand the dissatisfaction of many for the end in the novel, but i think it is the most realistic and reasonable one, because it doesn't present any sort of distorted romance between Wanshu and Ren, since there are not the appropriate conditions (not backstories that connect like the manga etc). I am curious to see how the manga is going to develop. Overall i enjoyed the novel and I'm happy that they don't end up 'together', maybe because I secretly wanted, but i despised myself for it, since this is abuse, not love. I liked the moral messeges, the plot and the narration. Take care everyone ♥️
